Charles James 'Chick' HAFEY, 1903 in Berkeley, California [HOF]

Also a Happy 57th Birthday to Enzo Hernandez. Enzo holds the ML record for fewest RBI by a player with at least 500 AB's. In his rookie season with the Padres in 1971, Enzo had 549 AB's with a whopping total of 12 RBI.

Also, a little known fact is that he was included in the embarrassing Mike Cuellar for Curt Blefary trade Houston made at the winter meetings in 1968.

Today in baseball history May 14, 1920

After beating the Tigers in relief at Griffith Stadium 9-8, 32-year old Senator right-hander Walter Johnson wins his 300th major league game.

Go figure, the greatest pitcher ever wins his 300th game in relief

As soon as I get my way-back machine finished, James, we'll go back in time and see some of these games. I want to go just to see the old parks as much as anything else.

We should start by going back to the late 1890s a convince Ban Johnson to allow blacks in the AL to start with. Then maybe we can go forward to the 1940s and see Bob Feller face Satchel Paige in a game...how cool would that be?

Man, I've never been at a game where someone got their 500th homer, 300th win or 3,000th hit. But this is weird, well, sort of. I was at Tom Glavine's MLB debut in the Astrodome in 1987 (LINK) and was at the game in Candlestick with Patty back in Sept 1999 when Barry Bonds got his 2000th career hit (LINK)...and he got it off Tom Glavine

I haven't been to any milestone games, either, but I was at the home game after Tony Gwynn got his 3,000th hit.

Man, 500 innings pitched in a single season! I don't care what era that it's from, it's simply amazing...and 72 others pitched even more than that!
