Hi again GaryMrMets, Nanner, wow lots of Mets fans around here. I hope you don't all start hating me with the Marlins now being 4.5 games up on you guys! LOL

Sounds like you've seen a lot of the UK Nanner, there's so much history here it even amazes those of us who lived here all our lives, if you've never been then next time you visit you must go to places like York (Vikings/Romans/very ancient city) Salisbury/Stonehenge, Stratford on Avon (that's the Shakespeare town), Bath (that's the main Roman times town!) and an area called 'The Cotswolds' which is 100's of tiny villages with nothing but an old church, a couple of shops, and a pub!! I live only about 1 hour drive south of the Lake District so we go there all the time, I think it's the most beautiful place. Our friend owns a stone wall/slate roof cottage near Derwent Water, it dates from around the year 1670 and has it's own well in the garden, and a ghost!! My wife watches Eastenders and the other English soaps like Coronation Street and Emmerdale Farm, I'm mainly into movies and sports, though I love a lot of US TV, especially 24, CSI, Law and Order, The West Wing, all that kind of stuff. I really got hooked on that CSI Miami show years ago, and it made me want to go to Miami more than ever, until I found out the damn thing is almost entirely shot in LA!!! Anyway, see you later

Well, actually (don't tell anyone....shhhhh), even though you're our division rivals, it's a pleasure to see a "low payroll" team doing so well. I like to see that.

Forgot to mention the Cotswolds. I spent time there as well, hiking around. I stayed in Stow-On-The-Wold. I hiked all around, and the lovely little villages with their houses and buildings made of that honey colored stone were fabulous. Also went to Stratford - had to pay homage to William Shakespeare. And Salisbury is one of my favorite spots. That cathedral is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I've ever seen. Stonehenge as well. I had read a book Sarum and wanted to see the area after reading about it.

Hiking in the Lake District is fantastic....all those wonderful mountains! I think I stayed on Derwent Water. I can't remember. I just like to take my maps and get a room at B & B's along the way and explore...I think I stayed in Grasmere and Keswick and passed through Derwent Water. Your friend's cottage sounds very cool.....even the ghost!!!

I still have Bath and York on my list. Bath definitely is on the top of the list.

It's so funny. Most of my friends from the UK love American television, but I'm totally hooked on British television.

Ever since high school, my dream vacation has been a month traipsing around Great Britain to see castles and manor houses. Some day.

By the way, I'm a huge fan of West Wing if you ever need somebody to talk to about it!

Well RockinRobin, castles and manor houses are two things we're not short of, you guys should arrange a Bleacher Gang UK Tour!!

The West Wing probably deserves a whole thread of its own. I just thought it was the most brilliantly written and acted drama I've ever seen, and it produced some of the most memorable characters, especially Bartlett and Josh Lynam. Moving, gripping, dramatic, and an insiders look at the real behind the scenes world of US politics which most of us thought we'd never see. I was incredibly upset when it all ended, I don't know if that was a ratings driven decision, but even with Martin Sheen/Bartlett done after 8 years in the Oval Office I'd have loved them to have carried on with Josh and Sam and CJ and Donna in the White House looking after the new Prez...though it may have been hard to find Toby a job, though he was pardoned so I guess technically he could have had his job back! Josh and Donna were the crowning achievement of that series, the sparks flew off those two whenever they were together, they obviously loved each other so much for years and it was just great TV when they finally got together at the end of the last series. Now all we have is memories of a phenomenal TV series, though I do also have the entire DVD box set to keep replaying it!

You know, maybe we could finance a group trip to the UK by letting them film us for a sorta' The Bleacher Gang British Vacation, maybe subtitled, 'Baseball comes to Swansea.' We're just as much fun and as funny as a lot of other crap shows on now.

Great idea PopTop! Maybe if there's enough of you, you could challenge us guys to a game!! You'd be amazed how many baseball teams and leagues there are in the UK...

The standard is pretty good, the Britain team is ranked #2 in Europe behind Holland, our aim is to qualify for the World Baseball Classic for 2011 or whenever (Holland are representing Europe in 2009)

Except Swansea is in Wales, where failure to play at least one game of rugby per week is considered a capital offence! :-) Not sure if they ever heard of baseball in Wales, I think it would be a bit like turning up in The Bronx and trying to organise a game of cricket
